The Sandhills of North Carolina are known for a lot of things, like golf, a unique ecosystem and historic villages, but the area is not as well known for its food. However, that doesn't mean that there's not delicious eats and treats to be found here — it just means you might need to look a little harder for them.
To help you get started, here are six of our favorite places to dine in the Sandhills of North Carolina.
Beefeaters has been a staple in Southern Pines for decades.
The steakhouse offers steak (of course), seafood and all your classic favorites that you might expect at an American steakhouse, along with a few regional favorites and southern classics, such as fried catfish and frog legs. Make sure to snag a reservation before you go!

Also in Southern Pines, Ashten’s offers an elegant atmosphere
It also offers monthly wine-pairing events, family-style suppers on Sundays and a menu filled with Southern-inspired takes on international cuisine. The a la carte menu is small, but offers a little something for everyone, from a crispy half duck served with local veggies, egg fried rice and a Cheerwine glaze, to a New York strip served with duck fat potatoes, onions and blue cheese butter.

195 American Fusion Cuisine specializes in local, organic-focused foods, plated beautifully
This farm-to-table restaurant specializes in local, organic-focused foods, plated beautifully. Stop in for lunch or dinner. For the latter, expect a small selection of salads, shareable plates and entrees, with options ranging from Indian butter chicken served with basmati rice and garlic naan, to pan-seared salmon on a lemon and thyme risotto with a horseradish mousse.

Find all your British favs at The Sly Fox Pub
A traditional British pub? In the Sandhills? It’s surprising, but it’s true. Find all your British favs at this gastropub, including fish and chips and full English breakfasts. The beer selection is admirable, too. The casual eatery serves brunch, lunch and dinner, and dinner reservations are recommended.

Check out Chapman’s Food & Spirits
This charming and casual restaurant in Southern Pines offers “chef-driven American fare” and a wide array of in-house specialties that you won't want to miss. Take, for example, the Cajun crawfish fries, served with a chipotle cream sauce; you won’t find crawfish fries just anywhere! The menu offers a nice mix of sandwiches, salads and larger plates of pasta, steak and other, more filling items.

Go to Yellowbird Southern Table & Bar for Southern-style food
No arguments about it, head straight to this brunch hotspot, where you can get brunch every single day of the week, not just on weekends. The menu brings together all of the Southern classics, done beautifully, such as fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, beignets, country-fried chicken and more.
