Once a mining town, Breckenridge, Colorado, is now a world-class ski destination. However, beyond the slopes in the wintertime, this town also attracts adventurers in the summer months with its hiking, fishing, whitewater rafting, kayaking and more. Whatever your preferred flavor of adventure, though, you’re bound to get hungry while exploring Breckenridge. When you do, here are six great spots to fuel up.
Breckfast — and, yes, that’s how it’s really spelled — is your place to go for delicious morning eats and one of the earliest happy hours in the area. Breakfast is served all day long, too, so you can chow down no matter what time you wake up. Expect breakfast classics like egg sandwiches and breakfast burritos, all in heaping servings that are sure to provide you with enough rib-sticking goodness to last through a day on the slopes or a day trekking through the peaks.
OK, so by now you might know that Breckenridge is commonly referred to as Breck. Call it Breck and you’re halfway to becoming a local. Well, almost.
As much as Breck has experienced tremendous growth within the past couple of decades, it fortunately still maintains a strong local vibe. This makes the dining and drinking scene all the more real. You’ll have to look hard to find a chain restaurant here. Instead, you can enjoy many delightful moments within spaces oozing with local character and charm.
Breck, as it’s affectionately known by locals, stands out as a premiere shopping destination for people with all kinds of tastes and budgets.
And you won’t find any big box, cookie cutter or iconic fashion brand stores here! No way, Breck’s boutiques are unique and that’s why this mountain town enjoys so much success on the retail front. As of this writing, there are over 200 retailers in and around Breckenridge. That’s a helluva lot for a small town. Note, however, that it’s a smallish town that draws a lot of visitors, winter and summer and these days, a fair amount during off season, too. (Actually here it’s best to refer to spring and fall as shoulder seasons because during most weeks, the activity is more on than off.)
