Most Discovery Map franchise owners live and work in their map territories. The ones that do not spend significant time in those territories (think vacation home, seasonal visits). As a result, they’re experts in all things local.
We asked Amy Newman from Discovery Map of Narragansett about some of her favorite local spots. Read on for an informed local's perspective!
What are the best kept secrets, things to do off the beaten path?
Narragansett has plenty of activities for visitors! I love to go whale watching, fishing at Black Point, and enjoy the year-round ice-skating rink. You can also get surfing lessons at Town Beach.
Where is the best breakfast/brunch?
Definitely check out Crazy Burger for pancakes; T's for The Spinwich and Tommy D's for an all-around great breakfast.

What are the best places to hear music?
The Bon Vue Inn has been around forever and offers live music and DJs all year round and George's Tiki Bar has live music all summer on the beach!
What is the history of this place and what historic sites can I see?
Originally a summer destination for the wealthy, it continues to be a favorite place to enjoy Rhode Island beaches and beautiful Atlantic Ocean views. Be sure to stop into the South County Museum for a full history of the area, as well as exhibits indoor and outdoor. The Towers is all that remains of the original Casino area of town that burned down over 100 years ago. Be sure to take a selfie in front of the Towers as it is one of the most photographed places in New England. The chamber of commerce is located here as well.
What makes this place special?
The beaches and laid back vibe of Narragansett are what make it special and keeps folks coming back year after year. We also have amazing restaurants that feature locally caught fish and seafood from the port of the Galilee which is in town.
Any other Recommendations for your area?
Be sure to spend time at the Tiki bars on the beach at George's, listening to live music, enjoying cocktails and wave to the folks on the Block Island Ferry as it passes by. Also, for shopping and eating, check out the Pier Marketplace, which is home to Nana's Ice Cream, Gelato and Candy Bar as well as local souvenir shops and boutiques.
