Where to Stay in El Paso

When you think of Texas, a few things always come to mind: barbecue, cowboys (both football and the horse riding kind), high school football, and Tex-Mex food.
Also the fact it’s the greatest country inside of America, but that might be a little bias from growing up there.
In all seriousness, Texas is such a massive state that it has at least a taste of everything. It makes sense that people would want to travel there. You can visit beaches, mountains (though kind of small), cities, or the big open spaces.
Now that you’ve made the decision to visit one of the most unique cities in all of Texas, one that has been influenced so greatly by its history, it’s time to plan out your stay.
Known as the “Sun City,” El Paso is home to some of the best Tex-Mex in the world. So, you’ve probably got it included in your trip to get some good food, but it’s time to get a hotel. Here are our top choices.
For Travelers on the Go
Traveling is kind of a way of life. It’s more than just a fun activity. That’s why it’s gotten so much more popularity in recent years. Plus the increased ease in traveling on a budget with ultra low cost carrier airlines, it only makes sense there would be a low cost place to stay. That’s exactly what you get with Boxstel.
Seated in downtown El Paso, Boxstel offers a unique experience that gives more privacy than a typically hostel and the comforts of a modern hotel. With free coffee and free WiFi, you’re always able to stay up and work. If you’re really budget conscious then the electric stove will allow you to make your meals before you head out for the day. Boxstel is perfect for those trying to be budget conscious and focus funds elsewhere.

A Hotel with an Eye for Style
El Paso isn’t at the forefront of your mind when you think about art, but the good folks over at Stanton House are trying to change that. Though not a massive selection, there are 42 suites at Stanton House that each have a unique piece of art from the hotel’s collection.
Which means you have to stay there at least 42 nights to “collect” them all.
Stanton House has a beautiful art collection to show off. So take the time to stroll through their gallery before calling it quits for the evening. Since you’re already staying at the hotel, don't forget to drop by Taft-Diaz for some incredible Tex-Mex. I hear only the clean plate club is allowed to check out the downtown scene.

Stay Classy, El Paso
That’s an Anchorman joke and it might be dated at this point, but sometimes when you’re visiting places, you do want to be somewhere classy. Luckily, when you visit El Paso The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park exists.
Having been a staple in downtown El Paso since the 1930’s The Plaza Hotel has had plenty of time to polish its operation. Art deco inspirations combine with some top notch customer service to give you one of the optimal stays in all of Texas, not just El Paso.
To top off the experience, Ambar Restaurante is one of the best restaurants ever. They’re not just good for a hotel restaurant, but just generally really good. It’s why Business Jet Traveler named it one of the “Five Best Texas Restaurants.” So, you should book your stay soon.
The Blended History
One of the coolest things about El Paso is seeing the blend of Mexican and Texan cultures. They are two separate stories that intertwine often to create a unique culture all its own. The place to get a taste of this blended culture is at Hotel Paso Del Norte, Autograph Collection.

One of the top Marriott hotels in Texas, Hotel Paso shows a perfect weaving of Mexican and Texan culture. With a beautiful rooftop pool that gives you an amazing view of downtown El Paso, and the stained glass ceiling to really show that you are in a special location.
Don’t forget that both Texan and Mexican cultures are directly influenced by Native American culture and history. Hotel Paso makes sure to celebrate this with the styling influence. The cultural fusion experience is worth the stay alone. But the location in downtown isn’t too bad either.
