Crooked Ladle Catering and Everything Nice (home of the Giving Fridge) have partnered on a collaborative initiative to transform the historic Battell Block storefront, 51 Main, into a mixed-use space with offerings focused on community enrichment, food, creativity, wellness, and houseplants. With a soft opening slated for Spring 2023, the re-imagined space will feature retail, dine-in, bar, curated programming, and event spaces.

Crooked Ladle will manage the commercial kitchen, continuing to serve their robust client roster for off-site events, as well as expanding to offer dine-in table service a few nights a week. Crooked Ladle will make weekly meals for Giving Fridge and also serve as the in-house caterer for events taking place in the multi-level space.

Everything Nice, a houseplant and home decor boutique , founded by Bethanie Farrell, serves as the home of, and a funding source for, Giving Fridge, and will continue to support the weekly healthy prepared meal program through retail, programming, and events. Since its inception in December 2020, in collaboration with local grant-makers, shop customers, donors, Localvore, and the innovative Vermont Everyone Eats program, Giving Fridge has reinvested more than $250,000 back into the local economy, providing steady income to local restaurants, farms, and food producers while hiring and training locals to assist with meal packing, delivery, and distribution. To date, families and individuals experiencing health and financial hardship throughout Addison County have received more than 25,000 healthy, restaurant-prepared meals, along with compassionate connections to relevant support services.
