The Galley Restaurant and Bar is located in the heart of Historic St. Michaels and is, for shoppers and local residents, an escape to paradise. The relaxing wrap around front patio, with its outdoor fireplaces, is the perfect place to indulge in a glass of rosé while enjoying an extra-long lunch. Inside, our Bar buzzes with energy while the Reef Room is an elegant space for private dining. Tucked away upstairs, the Tree Top Lounge is perfect for a late-night rendezvous. The rooftop patio is ideal for star gazing and post wedding parties.
HISTORY of the Building
Originally built in 1806, The "Dorris House" was erected by James Dorris, who purchased the lot from William Sears for $381.29. The house became The Excelsior Hotel from approx. 1891-1901, then a succession of residences until the early 1960's when it was remodeled for use as a bank, and remained the St. Michaels branch office for a succession of banks, ending with the Bank of America which closed the St. Michaels location in 2013.
